Dear Mr. Davis,

You are introduced by Mr. Jashu Sha (President of Asian Vegetarian Union); and we take pleasure to introduce ourselves to you.  Our organization is called Chong Hua Vegetarian Union who just ended the most successful third AVU Congress on 3rd ~ 7th November, 2007, also received good impression of AVCIII from several participants and speakers.  Certainly, you have alreadly received the said messages from Dr. Maitree Suttajit, Mr. Jashu Sha and someone else.

We make herewith a Proposal for the 39th IVU World Vegetarian Congress to be held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in June/July, 2010 as the followings for your refrence.

Details of the bid for 2010 World Vegetarian Congress are required as below:

1. Place: Shen Wei Tian Tai Shan established by Bao Guang Jian De, a branch of I-Kuan Tao, is located in Xian Liao Village, Liu Gui Town, Kaohsiung Country in a region of breathtaking beauty, of mountains and valleys where we have our paradise on earth.  The buildings cover approximately 310 hectares. However, we just developed 60 hectares so far.  You would surely enjoy the peaceful ambiance when rambling in the mountains with magnificent views.  The magnificent main buildings that comprise front hall, nave and back hall are surrounded by facilities such as the stadium where we ever held Athletic meeting over twenty thousand people attended in 2001, Shen Wei Zhao Bi, Lake of Sun and Moon, Accommodation Mansion, Zong De Auditorium, Yuan Jue Garden, Yao De Garden, Four-faced Ji Gong Living Buddha, The camping area and so on.

2. High Strengthening Aspiration: The memberships of CHVU have same strong-minded aspiration to be able to hold the 39th AVU Congress, because we do expect that everyone in the world can enjoy and share together the Great Love of the Heavenly Mother with us in the very near future.

3. Mission: Be tolerance, respect, and compassion to each other.  We sincerely hope that AVU & IVU can coordinate, work together to continue promoting vegetarianism to prevent global to be warmed and reduce people to be famished; and being peace and quiet of the world.

4. Vegetarian Food: We can supply you with a wide variety of Chinese ingredients cooked in the typical southern manner or traditional Taiwanese Vegetarian Food.  We have developed a diverse range of dishes based on the greater variety of fresh, raw materials available.  Doubtless, we can supply 10,000 persons in our restaurant.

5. Transport: Kaohsiung is within easy access to all major cities in Taiwan and is only about one and half hour away from Taipei by Taiwan High Speed Rail. There are direct plane routes to Kaohsiung International Airport from different countries such as Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and etc.

6. Weather: Weather in Kaohsiung is excellent in June/July, with temperatures around 28 degree to 33 degree centigrade.

7. Kaohsiung: The city and county of Kaohsiung together is the densest, the second largest city, and also one of the most beautiful cities in Taiwan. It has a population of 1.51 million; as to Kaohsiung County has a population of 1.24 million according to the record of census in 2006 April.

8. History: Actually in the very earliest aboriginals, there is a long history of Kaohsiung city and Kaohsiung County about 7000~8000 years; the languages of originates from 5 aboriginal tribes in Kaohsiung County. Until the end of the Ming Dynasty in the 17th century, except the Han people from the southern China, but also the village was known as Takau in Holo language spoken by most of the early immigrants. The name originates from the Makatao language of the local aboriginal tribe and translates as “bamboo forest”.  The Dutch established Fort Zeelandia in 1624 and defeated the local tribes in 1635.  In 1895, Taiwan was ceded to Japan as part of the Treaty of Shimponoseki.  After control of Taiwan was handed to the Republic of China in 1945, the official by romanization named Kaohsiung. Kaohsiung, is a harbor city, located in southern coastal area, is renowned for its thriving economy, colorful culture and beautiful landscape.  In Taiwan, more than 20% of population is vegetarian. People call Taiwan is Formosa Island.  (It means a Beautiful Island).

9. Time:  We agree with IVU’s suggestion, congress to be held in June/July for participants’  
convenience.

For the above- mentioned and all positive feed back from many participants, the past conferences and events held in Kaosiung show that not only is Chong Hua Vegetarian Union entirely capable of holding a successful 39th IVU World Vegetarian Congress in 2010, it will also be a memorable experience for all those who attend.
